Insecure Season 4 FINALE: Lowkey Lost
Last week... I’m okay with Molly and Issa growing apart. Change is good and sometimes friends change in different directions. Oop, that was a word! I have a feeling they’ll end up making up, but I’m not really in a rush to see it happen. Molly doesn’t let anything go.
Issa and Lawrence
I’m so glad that Lawrence got the job in San Fran. I wonder if Issa is willing to do long distance. How far is LA from SF? 45-minute flight means that it is like the distance from Boston to NYC. Not bad. I’m so glad that Lawrence and Issa are finally at a point where they can talk so openly about their relationship. They’re cute together.
Molly and Andrew
OK, Molly, bringing bae to work events! Molly and Andrew look happy. This is a good look for them- chillin. Uh oh... trouble in paradise. Andrew is finally getting fed up with Molly’s bs and he just wants to talk about what’s going on. Andrew is absolutely running on Molly’s time and it sucks because he is SO supportive. Clearly, they’re not on the same page, and the fact that he is feeling like they may not be right for each other, ugh, this hurts. Molly has lost her best friend and now she is about to lose her man. When Andrew said that she doesn’t let anything go, I felt that... because I said it (peep my first paragraph). I feel for her because she is going THROUGH it, but I also feel like this is what happens when you don’t address your feelings and issues openly and claim responsibility for your own bs.
Nathan
I’m glad that he and Issa are helping each other out. He is helping her out with a space for her event, and she is helping him put the space in the limelight. I’m kinda feeling some type of way because I feel like he still likes Issa, but they can be friends... if he lets them be... while she is in a relationship with Lawrence. Guys and girls can totally be friends. But these one-on-one moments... those have to change eventually.
Tiffany
OMG, where is Tiffany? I was worried about possible post-partum with her, but now I’m worried. I’m glad that the friends are forced to come together on this Tiffany scavenger hunt.
Also, Derek is such an amazing husband. He’s blaming himself for what she’s going through, but that’s not how post-partum works. I’m glad that he is willing to go so hard for his wife. Found out where she went all over the city, showed up at her hotel room to find her, like... Tiffany and Derek are gonna get through this together.
Issa and Molly
The awkward moments are killing me and Molly is the one who keeps creating them. Man, her life is just a mess right now. So... it literally took Molly losing all of her key relationships for her to extend the olive branch and call Issa. I don’t know if she and Andrew ended up breaking up, but even the threat of it seems to have made her realize that she is the problem. Seriously, if you’re having problems with your best friend, boyfriend, and family at the same time, it’s definitely worth exploring your role as well.
Issa and Lawrence and... Condola?!
Yo... sooooo many people suspected that Condola was pregnant and BOOM. The woman is pregnant. I mean... Lawrence and Issa can still work, especially if he’s in San Francisco. This can work, y’all. It would be a little weird, but it can work. Dang. Things were going so well for Lawrence and Issa but it was too good to be true. This baby doesn’t have to ruin that, but it is definitely a slight change in the plans. Issa’s joint smoking in the next scene is probably the most perfect reaction because who wouldn’t need a smoke after news like that. Knowing Issa, she was probably already imagining her life with Lawrence in SF, and now that is definitely gonna look a little different.
There were so many strange moments in this episode. I love Kelli. She’s so perfect- her humor, the different characters and their dialogue, it’s all so perfect. This interaction with the police... it’s difficult to believe that the situation would have turned out the same way in today’s climate, but I’m glad that the situation didn’t escalate.
I just... I want the best for everybody. I want Issa and Lawrence to work and for Lawrence to be a great father to his child. I want Molly and Andrew to work so bad, but I also know Andrew is sick and tired of Molly’s mess. I want Kelli to stay hilarious. I want Tiffany and Derek to work through their parenting together and for Tiffany to get back to her bougie ridiculous self. And Nate... I want Nate to stop licking his lips like that when he’s talking to Issa.
